  Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now

  as the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.

  and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.

  i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

  my mom called me yesterday to ask how i was doing.

  i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.

  we went through the motions of jw small talk and then she started telling me about her co visit from last week.

  My mom called me yesterday to ask how I was doing.  I hadn't seen her in a while, so it was nice to hear her voice.  We went through the motions of JW small talk and then she started telling me about her CO visit from last week.  She said that her CO is some older guy, "real grandfatherly" and "even the little kids like him."  So, I guess she was impressed.

  She then reminds me how much Jehovah loves me and the urgency of the times.  She says, "The brother said that the GB want us all to know that soon, very soon our way of worship will be altered by this wicked world."

  What do you make of that?

  This belief just serves to support the structure.  The GB whether here or in heaven are more important than anything or anyone else.......

  Really don't feel like a JW anymore

  it has been a good 8 years away from my area, a good 10 years + since i was regularly at meetings.

  a good 12 years since i was hesitantly active.. it is a slow process but it does happen.

  i now feel no connection to the belief system beyond memories.

  waking up to reality is harder for some than others....it is nice to know that you are no longer burdened by the fear of Harmageddon

  I have to keep reminding myself that every generation thinks they are special and noteworthy.  Then they die like the rest.......oh, wait, even the overlapping ones!

  JW TV is the reason for the hysteria in the KH

  if you, like me, have noticed the sudden increase in hysteria in the khs right now, i put it down to that jw tv site.

  its's far more extensive than i thought it was, i thought it was just 1, 1 hour program a month.

  there's a s*** load of videos on that site.. and the real problem, from just watching a clip from each video, is that these guys are clearly "mentally unstable".

  One Eyed Joe makes a good point.  I stopped contributing when I began to wake up.  Funny, a family member came to visit and saw a letter from an international charity sitting on my dining room table.  He said, "Oh, looks like they're asking you for money?"  I said, "No, its probably a thank you card for what we gave them."  He was flabbergasted!

  "I hope you are still contributing to the Society.  Their work is the ONLY true charity."

  I said, "Tell that to someone who has cancer."

  No Black or woman became Pope or WT President—reveals what?

  sending a messenger nearly 2000 years in advance to preach the coming of gods kingdom, and leaving the message to be carried out by his followers who would practice just the opposite of his message [eg.

  catholics cannot accept a pope if he is from a black community or if sex is female, just like jws could not tolerate a black/woman wt president, which is in sharp contrast to what jesus himself practicedhe showed no partiality with regard to sex or communityhe elevated a samaritan woman sharing with her great truth, even before he did it with his own male-disciplesjohn chapter 4].

  claiming something as his own, and then allowing it to decay do not befit gods superlative style!.

  Once again, I have to agree with Viviane....

  Additionally, I have to add that Religion is man's way of trying to understand or make sense of the incomprehensible.  It has morphed over the centuries as man has come to grips with his understanding of the cosmos.
